Irregular Mensuration
Introduction :-
When the lenght of menstrual cycle unexpectedly falls outside of regular range, it is called “Irregular Mensturation”. It can include abnormal Uterine bleeding such as :-
- Bleeding after sexual intercourse
- Heavy bleeding during period
- Bleeding or spotting between periods
- Bleeding after Menopause
- Menstrual bleeding that lasts more than normal.
The average menstrual cycle period for a woman is 28 days, but it varies from person to person. Irregular menstruation occurs when the period cycle is longer than 35 days or when the duration varies.

Causes :-
- Polycyatic ovary Syndrome
- Hyperprolactinemia ( elevated level of Prolactin hormone in blood
- Uncontrolled Diabetes
- Thyroid disorder or Hypothyroidism
- Premenopausal and Perimenopausal Syndrome
- Eating disorder
- Excessive exercise
- Endometrial Polyps

- Inflammatory diseases of Pelvis, Uterine Fibroid
- Premature Ovarion Failure
- Bleeding disorders
- Consumption of birth control pills can affect menstruation and can lead to missed periods
- Stress
- Medications such as anti-epilepileptic, anti- psychotic.
Symptoms :-
- Missed Period
- Pain in abdomen with cramps
- Extremely painful period
- Period last more than a week
- Period becomes usually heavy
- You haven't had a period for 90 days
- Bleeding between periods
- You have a period less often than 35 days
- Period more often than 21 days
Ayurvedic Perspective :-
According to Ayurveda “Apana Vayu” which is subdosha of Vata governs the menstrual cycle. It is located in the lower abdomen and is responsible for the downward flow through the intestines, urinary and reproductive tracts. The imbalance of this particular dosha ( imbalance in Apan Vayu ) is responsible for irregular periods.
Other important factors are Stress, improper diet,Lack of physical exercise, long-term illnesses, over-exertion and certain medications.

- Uterus and Fallopion tube may be damaged
- Ovarion cyst & Uterine tumor
- Polycystic ovarion syndrome
